Why homeschooling?
In thinking about our upcoming school year we had a lot to consider.
We enjoyed Oak Meadow and while I think what they offer is great, I wasn’t thrilled about paying for all their curriculum and still needing to buy all the supplies and crafting materials. I guess I’m a cheapskate, but I think I also just wanted to explore our options. So, even though I was surprised to find my daughter and husband in their recent ad in Living Crafts, (Though we HADN’T won their photo contest for free curriculum?! Anyone spotted them?) we are moving forward.
Enter: Cedar Ring Circle.
So who or what is Cedar Ring Circle?
If you’ve not been to their site or joined the co-op you may not know that they offer homeschooling packages through their online store. They also offer discounts on supplies, books, and Little Acorn Learning guides for co-op members.
They were one of our other options, and we were privileged to win a month’s free in March and we loved it. The major hitch for most Waldorf-influenced curricula is the heavy focus on holidays. Which we don’t really celebrate–it’s no one’s fault, but the major thing in OM’s favor was the lack of that. We fill in the holidays on our own, and we are happy that way.
So, CRC offered a package that accompanies the Earthschooling curricula; the price is great and the package is HUGE!
The price of Earthschooling’s online resources is reasonable as is. BUT we were given a discount on that as a result of purchasing CRC’s bundle. All in all, we came in around $300 for all the materials we should need for next year.
This is big!
While we may not be the best at strictly following any lesson plan day to day, it is a great relief to have a guide and reference point through the year AND the materials to boot! No more skipping projects because we’re missing one or more of the bits and pieces.
This homeschooling program has a gift for you!
CRC has generously offered to give away one free membership to the co-op ($25 value) to one of you lucky readers! Take a look around their site and tell us what you’d be excited to get the member discount on. Comment below for an entry. Winner will be announced on, Tuesday, August 9th.
(Make sure we can get in touch with you by sending us your complete details.)

We would LOVE a membership to the co-op. Although we don't homeschool during the typical school year, we do a lot of enrichment b/c my girls love to learn. (I'm a teacher so I'm home with them during the summer. I'm learning a lot about working with my own high schoolers through my toddlers' experiences actually.) We bought some silks, a couple of dolls and candles to get the mood going around here. 🙂 We'd like it to spread into our lives more.
well, that kind of thing is just right up my alley and we'd love to order from them to take advantage of all those fun crafts!! thanks for spreading the word. i'd never heard of their site before.
we are about to take our first shaky, unsure, yet exciting steps into the world of homeschooling. thank you so much for sharing your experiences and Cedar Ring Circle. The grade based supply bundles make my knees shake a little less…and a membership to the co-op would be fabulous. thanks again for the knowledge…
I have been meaning to join their co-op! Such a great resource. I love all the art supplies and the Little Acorn Learning enrichment guides. Thanks so much for the chance at this giveaway. Peace, love and light.
I love the Earthschooling packages by grade. They are brilliant!
Oooh, I would love to win this! Saving on all of those wonderful art supplies would be absolutely wonderful. *swoon* 😉
I'm anxious to see how your year goes with Earthschooling. We need to get together sometime soon and talk school. 🙂 I'd love the membership, by the way!
That sounds fabulous.
I'd like to get some beeswax crayons.

I just learned about CRC, and I'd LOVE to win a membership—there's a ton of amazing supplies there, but I think I'd go for some Mercurius supplies first…thanks for the chance to win!
Oh my! There are so many good things. Maybe the Little Acorn packages or some of the Grimm's puzzles. How exciting this would be for us!!!! Thank you!!!

Hi! I referenced your post recently. http://chocoeyes.blogspot.com/2011/08/planning-home-school-this-month.html
I know what you mean about planning projects and not having the materials needed. I love the co-op! Don't enter me in the giveaway as I already have a membership. Hope someone who could really use it wins!

We would love to win a membership to cedar ring! I love their site and they alway have the most amazing prices. I have 2 little ones (planning on having more) and we are just starting so we don't have much. I especially love their woolens. I hope we win! [email protected]
I'm starting our homeschooling this Fall using Earthschooling and am rather nervous about it. Wish that I have known about the co-op as I've already bought a few items before learning about it. I would be excited to get some kite papers if I win the giveaway!

Wow! What a wonderful offer and community resource! I would LOVE a free membership to Ceder Ring Circle and it couldn't come at a better time. I have been working with Waldorf pedagogy since before my child was born, he's now 7 and in 2nd grade and I'm fervently looking for any deals I can to get all my supplies. My husband lost his job in March and come November we will have no living space as well. I'm also trying to heal my herniated back (my anthro doctor is wonderful) before school starts so I can actually teach and move! Things are a bit murky now, but we hope to find a job for my husband soon!! This membership would be help so much in getting the supplies I need for this year. I also live in NY, in the Catskills, so this community is close to home. Thank you so much for considering my entry and for this wonderful connection!
many blessings,
Monica J

What a nice offer. I would love a membership. I appreciate the Louet products and would really like to invest in learning to spin! I think that the earthschooling kits are super helpful as well.

I would be blessed to win this. Thank you for the opportunity. I am in need of art supplies for the upcoming year. I love the products you offer.
There isn't anything I wouldn't be excited about buying with this membership. I am interested in the annual kits especially. I teach playgroups for young children in my home and I am really walking the path towards becoming a Waldorf teacher. I have two of my own children one infant one school-aged. We don't homeschool the older child, though I really try to bring the Waldorf curriculum into our home and rituals.
Thanks, hope to be the lucky recipient of the membership!
Our school is so eclectic, we could definitely use more natural art supplies. But I've been looking for wooden beads for math for a while. Then again, some new felt books would round out the library. And… do I have to pick just one thing??
I would love to have one of the Grimm's celebrate table centerpieces. I've always wanted something fun for our table and those are so colorful!
I would definitely start with the art supplies…I have OM K for my first year homeschooling my kiddos. What a neat community!! I have looked at the Earthschooling curriculums before and had forgotten about them. Loved looking through again!
as Waldorf inspired homeschoolers, we'd love to be a part of this! we like the Stockmar paints, the thick watercolor paper and the wonderful nature table postcards. Thank you!
