Harvest Season: Produce and Preserves

What parts of this harvest season do you want to save?

It is harvest season and we really want to know what part of this season’s harvest you want to save… and I’m not talking in metaphors.

We hosted a live webinar on canning and preserving foods of all kinds. I invited two of my most experienced friends. We had a really fun conversation. We divulge all the secrets we’ve learned in our joint 50 years of experience in food preservation. If this is a topic you’ve wanted to learn more about, check out our video above!

Recipes for this season!

blackberry jam on a harvest season

While I’m not much of a recipe follower, I did share one for a jam recipe that has been one of our favorites. While it is a Cherry base, you could substitute, or mix any fruits you choose–whatever’s in season: Strawberries, blueberries, blackberries.

I’m not sure there’s anything more satisfying then jam on a fresh-baked biscuit or slice of sourdough.

Secret Tip: Stocking up on the season’s bounty at the local farmer’s market is the best way to shop local!

Pay low prices, and then fill your pantry and freezer with delicious fruits and veggies. Have your immune system super-charged with the nutrition you just can’t get from the veggies shipped in during the offseason.

For us we stock up on our favorites likes Corn, Peaches, Beans, Squash, Tomatoes, Apples, and Berries.
